The Department of Information & Publicity as a Nodal Department for dissemination of policies and programmes of the State Government, plays an effective role in educating people. It helps public to access information on the policies & schemes of the Government and other issues of national & social importance. The ultimate endeavour is to provide information and related services for promoting better understanding between Government and the People. Besides dissemination of information on policies and programmes of the Government, the Department provides feed back to the Government about impact of policies & programmes implemented in the State for the welfare of general public and on other vital issues.
Functions of the department
Dissemination of information on policies, programmes and achievements of the Government.
Implementing welfare schemes to Media Persons.
Extending Protocol Services to State Guests visiting Puducherry.
Honouring National and State level leaders and Freedom Fighters.
Organizing functions of National / State importance and Swearing-in Ceremonies.
The Department is headed by Secretary (Information) assisted by the Director of Information & Publicity supported by Assistant Directors, in Head Quarter and in Karaikal region. Services are carried out under the control of respective Regional Administrators in Mahe and Yanam regions.
